The more we identify ourselves with our successes and failures, our missed opportunities and ones that were executed, the further we will be from obtaining long-lasting happiness and contentment. True happiness and contentment with your own self can only be achieved by becoming your own best friend. I’m a firm believer that the most happy and successful people spend a lot of time alone. They get to know themselves in complete silence. Silence allows you to get to know the true self. Without worry of anyone judging you, stressing about a situation in the past, or what tomorrow holds. Try sitting alone for 30 minutes a day in the morning (as Deepak Chopra suggests in 7 Spiritual Laws of Success) and you will be amazed at just what you learn.
Whether you have long term goals that you want to accomplish or even small changes that you would like to implement on a daily basis, Challenge yourself. Pledge to yourself that you are capable of whatever you set your mind to and make that commitment to do whatever it takes to progress. After all if you are not growing in every aspect of your life, you are TRULY not living.
